Depends which version you want.

The TRF414M has been out for a while

The TRF 414MII, which has blue bits, is also out, but I've never seen one in a British shop

The TRF 414MII World Champion Replica (or something like that), is also out, but it's a limited edition, which will probably never get a UK release.

The TRF cars are incredibly expensive over here though, and spares support will probably be a problem.

There were actually a couple more made, in 1998 a TRF 404 was made, then less than a year later a revised TRF 404X made its debut both were sold in Japan/US only. Then came the TRF414 (I had one for a week, amazingly good car, easilly the best car I've ever had, since sold it) then the TRF 414X(1999), TRF 414M(2000), TRF 414MII(2001) IFMAR Champ Edition (Japan only, 2002). Also the TA04 series is a descendant from the TRF 404 and TRF 414 series of cars. Through its whole design the basic concept and layout has never chainged, they've only made it better by changing a few items on the car.

Yeah its around that price the Uk is a rip of on Tamiya parts, but if u import from Japan then expect to pay around £320 at max. In Japan they retail for around £220-£260. I'm being offered a near new TRF 414X(the one with all the alloy parts, 1999 spec) for £200, its the older car but can still compete with the Pro 3 and TC3 , etc. £200 is the rolling chassis only, no motor and no electrics, comes boxed with the original certificate and titanium authentication plate stamped , car no 74, also comes with the TRF setting help sheet, blue TRF set up wheels, anti wear grease(I've used before and is amazing stuff, long wear but hugely smooth and free drivetrain with it), camber gauge, toe gauge and also a spare motor mount. All this is kit standard except the motor mount. The car weighs around 860g(rolling chassis weight) I'm seriously considering buying it.

Jimmy you can't ask them to email you either, this is still using the forum as a place to get people to buy your car, and if things don't work out, they may come to HPI to complain. Which is exactly what they don't want.

Cheers,

Blackman

Woo hoo, I was the highest bidder on ebay Japan for the TRF 414X at £218 and £20 postage. Should receive it tomorrow as it was 48 hour delivery am. I've had a TRF414 before but the 414X has all those alloy parts not the plastic standard ones. And I'm not worried about weight as it weighs well under the allowance levels at my club of 1500g. Going to be buying an LRP quantum ESC for the car to go with the GM3's that I am going to buy also.

I may also get some of those 3300 cells, has anyone tried them yet, if so how did u find them?? good bad??Or I may just run the Nicads again, probably 2400's, that should be enough for stock.

Thanx

the bad thing about the 3300 powers is that they are illegal in most if not all races, however there are some good deals on them from the company, you get 24 cells in a box

Oh well, I aint gonna be using those 3300's in stock then, and I certainly aint using the 3000's there **** for stock, not enough punch, I'll use the punchy 2400 Ni-CD's they easilly do the 5 mins and they are super quick too. And I aint gonna buy that Quantum now either, sticking with my LRP V7.1 Pro. That should be quite a good setup for s the stock racing class, I should think. All I need is a better radio.

Anyone got any good info on radio sets, I know about the Vantage Esprit, but what other good radios are there?? Budget is around £360, due to me not buying the Quantum now.

Sanwa Exzes Combo?
KO Esprit 2 Vantage?
Futaba 3VC Combo?
Sanwa M8 Combo?

KO probably feels the best in the hand, 3VC has the best features, Super Exzwes also has a lot of features, but I've never had a good look at one, M8 is a stupid steerwheel, with the same features at the Super Exzes

id say that ko is probabley the best bet, ive held one and the sticks are so smooth and at just the right height

It eventually came today.:D :) :D . I opened the box and everythign was there, all in pieces, the previous owner hasn't even built it yet, all the parts still on the sprues for the servo savers, etc. Chassis, still has the protective film on it to stop scraches too. The car feels very quick and light, also people moan about there being slop in the steering of Tamiya cars, not here.

It is also alot better than my Pro 3 I still have   . And aint got rid of yet. Feels more nuetral and grippy, where the pro 3 was understeering and traction rolling in slow corners, the 414X just goes around them, although it does have a tendancy to wander oo one side under even slight braking, but I know the proble to this and will work on a solution. I haven't pushed it flat out yet, waiting till friday. Gonna paint up a new body for it too, gonna do a Tamiya paint scheme, with the reb, blue background and white stars. Getting my Vantage tomorrow too, and the 2 GM'3 I ordered from modelsport uk. Going with a good RPM setup on the GM3, 769 cavity brush on the positive side and a 767 brush on the negative along with a medium-light spring on postive and a medium on the negative, this should easilly top 32000RPM on the dyno.

So once everything gets here, I'll put it throught its paces on the track and see what kinda lap times I can get from it. I was only 2 tenths on a second slower than the PRO 3's at my track in my TA03R TRF, ok I still placed 5th, its a close thing here.

Any info would be greatly appreciated on the car.

Na I'm happy with the 414X, for now. Maybe in a few onths time, but I doubt it. But thanx for the info anyways.

I bought a old Tamiya Toyota Gt One F103 last week, and those 2 cars are getting my full attention now a days.

Yeah its the old Tamiya F1 chassis, but with a larger chassis plate and a few new items. It only weighs 620g. And it goes like stink. I still haven't painted the body I'm running it with a clear body, looks kinda cool. I was thinking of doing a Tamiya style full view GT One, just showing parts like steering, suspention and motor, etc.

Thanx
