Hi All!
Tried out the Penguin chassis last night at Don Valley using exactly the same setup as I used for the Juniors. I used the Penguin chassis with the Penguin rear brace, to be honest, it's a while since I've raced at Don Valley, but last night the handling was terrific, the back end would just come out of line, so I could flick it round the tight corners. I used the upper deck for one run, but that was ruined by a bad battery pack which didn't want to give me any speed at all :( so I couldn't tell the difference because it was so slow, but it seemed pretty glued to the track.
Now, onto the practical side of the chassis, the wings are exactly the same size as on the standard HPI tub chassis, so plenty of room for even my LRP F1 Pro Reverse speedo, which I was very pleased about :). It is made of carbon fibre down the middle, and the wings are fibreglass. Even without the upper deck AND the battery holder in place, the chassis is incredibly stiff, but with the upper deck in place, it's as stiff as possible, Penguin have certainly done a good job on this one, so if you can afford it, or if you live in the US (only available from the US) then this chassis is a great thing to have. My belief is a stiffer car, is a better car, so mine now must be the best car in the world!
There's only one problem with the Penguin chassis, I'm currently running stick packs, and there's nothing to hold them in from sliding about in the chassis, and the upper deck doesn't fit with them....Problem solved.....convert them into side by side :D
If I was to give the Penguin chassis and upper deck a mark out of 10, then I'd give it a well earned 9.5/10 simply because stick packs are not really compatible with it, otherwise, it would have got 10!
Steve
EDIT: Looks GREAT too!
