Savage and an Ofna Force .32 engine

Has anyone on this forum tried this engine in their savage?
If so .How did you find it?
I know a few people are favouring the O.S. 30 engine. Anyone gone that bit further in engine size.

I'm sure the Force 32 will be a good engine. Older HPI engines were nothing more than re-badged Force units and I always found them to be okay.

There a few users who have tried the Sure Fire 32 and Axial 32 ( same engine) and they seem to get good reviews.

The Force 32 is overkill for the Savage. With a 47/19 spur/clutch ratio it pulls wheelies all the way. Even in second gear half throttle. It's no fun (only the first 10 wheelies). On road with a three speed it should do, but offroad it's useless. I changed the FC32 for a FC28 (also from an Ofna X1) and I'm more pleased with it.

Well a moment of madness has arrived.....
I`ve just finished 3 tanks of running in ,my new Ofna Force .32 engine.!
I know!! I must be mad,but I`m so excited. It`s purring like a kitten (after a lot of hassle starting it.My arm is knackered...Its a tight so and so engine(Pull start by the way)).

Question... ? When I got my savage rtr it came with an 18 tooth clutch bell ,with a warning that I must not use it off road..!!
Why???

At the moment it has a 49 tooth spur and a 15 tooth clutch bell...
The warning said I could damage my engine if I used an 18 t clutchbell with the factory standard spur off road!!!
Why???

You can't damage your engine with clutch bell and spur combinations bud.

I'm guessing that you had a S-25 savage of some sort, maybe the SS which came with a 15 and 18 tooth clutch bell.

Think of it this way.

The stock K4.6 savage runs a 17 /47 combo.
You have a .32 engine, so should have a lot more power than the K4.6.

Unless all you want is wheelies I would change the gearing.
Its one thing to have the power but its another thing to be able to get the power down and make the most of it.

Thanks for the reply..
Gear ratios are exactly what I need now I think... Any ideas?

I know I`ve just put a stupid sized engine in my Savage...It wheelled all the time with the standard engine ,once it had got pretty worn and loose....So god knows what a pain its going to be once this 32 size has loosened up...

I need some help with ratios really I think, just to calm the so and so down...!!!

Just to recap... It has a 49t spur and a 15 t clutchbell.
I do have an18t clutchbell in my toolbox as well..

Help!!!

The 18T clutch bell barely fits to the 49T spur gear (the engine is in th eouter most position and it's very hard to align/mesh it properly). So it's best to use a 47T spur gear wit the 18T clutch bell. You still have enough power to pull wheelies on demand and you'll also have a good top speed. I use a 47/19T combo on my FC.28 and I can do wheelies too while driving half throttle. So you hust have to be very careful controlling the throttle.

I've got 18 / 47 gearing on my Axial .32. It works fine. Wheelies when i want them and a gentle finger when i don't . this should be perfect for your set up..........

Thanks for the replies...
I have got a 47t spur in my spares box.So I think I`ll do as you say and mate it to my 18t clutchbell.. Should be ok. Many thanks..
